China Slow TravelField Handbook of Hidden Slow China

Privacy · The Short Version

We don't build profiles. We don't sell data. We barely collect anything.

This site has no accounts, no comments, no cookies for advertising, and no cross-site tracking. Here's what that means in detail.

What we collect

  • Aggregate analytics — page views and referrers in aggregate form, used to see which towns readers actually care about. We don't tie analytics to individuals.
  • Email addresses you send us — via the contact form or newsletter signup, only what you choose to give us, used only to reply to you.

What we never collect

  • No accounts, no sign-in, no profiles.
  • No advertising cookies, no retargeting, no social pixels.
  • No cross-site tracking of any kind.
  • No location tracking — your IP is handled by the CDN for basic delivery and not used to identify you.

Consent-based only

Anything optional is opt-in with a clear label. If we ever add a newsletter product (the “Field Notes” data pack), your subscription will be double opt-in and one-click unsubscribable, and we'll never share the list.

Data retention

Contact correspondence is kept as long as the thread is useful, and deleted on request. Aggregate analytics are kept in rolling summaries, not per-visitor logs.

Third parties

The site is served through a CDN; the newsletter and contact form may route through the services described on the contact page. Each is chosen to minimize data collection, and none of them gets your data for their own use.
